Our mission

Improving lives through targeted brain stimulation

The CNWL Neuromodulation Service sits at the intersection of psychiatry and neuroscience — delivering evidence-based treatments for patients who have not responded adequately to medication or psychological therapies.

Patient-centred care

Every treatment pathway is tailored to the individual — with shared decision-making, clear consent, and longitudinal follow-up.

Evidence-based practice

Our protocols reflect current guidelines and emerging research, ensuring patients receive treatments with a robust evidence base.

Collaborative team

Psychiatrists, nurses, anaesthetists, and technicians work together in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

Teaching & research

Opportunities to contribute to audit, quality improvement, and academic collaboration within a major NHS teaching trust.

Treatments on offer

Three modalities, one commitment to neural health

We offer a comprehensive suite of neuromodulation therapies for treatment-resistant depression and related conditions.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment
Non-invasive

rTMS

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

We use the Magstim Horizon 3.0 with SimGuide Pro to deliver focal magnetic pulses in order to stimulate targeted cortical regions and modulate neural circuits involved in mood regulation.

  • NICE-recommended for treatment-resistant depression
  • Daily sessions over 4–6 weeks
  • Treatment protocols for OCD and Generalised Anxiety Disorder available
Transcranial direct current stimulation
Emerging

tDCS

Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation

Low-intensity direct current applied via scalp electrodes to gently shift cortical excitability — an accessible, well-tolerated adjunct or standalone treatment. Unlike other devices the PlatoWork tDCS Headset is only available to medical professionals.

  • Portable and minimally invasive
  • Suitable for home or clinic-based protocols
  • Growing evidence base in mood disorders
